What happened to the greasy-palmed?

I made a creative presentation to members of the new State Government the other day. It was uplifting that the exchange and interaction were intelligent, inspiring, cordial, transparent and well worth my many sleepless nights. I have made many presentations to State Governments before. This time I noticed many positive differences. The most obvious was: when I shook hands, the palms weren’t “greasy”. But the little light refreshments and Malay “kuih-muih” were still there. But that’s not bad. They were never bad. The grumpy old men in ill-fitting suits, they were bad. I don’t miss them.
